Omaha
Omaha Hold'em , (also known as Omaha Holdem or plain
Omaha) is a variation of Texas Hold 'Em. and was originally designed to be a
"high-hand wins" game. As time passed, a high-low spolit varient was created
which is called "Omaha eight-or-better". Be careful what you call it because
in the North America, the name "Omaha" generally refers to the high-low
version, while in the rest of the world it refers to the h8igh hand game.
If you know how to play Texas Hold 'Em then you know most of what it takes to
play Omaha. The betting process is identical but the distribuition of cards
and the showdown are different.
- Each player is receives four private cards instead of two.
-
At showdown, each player must make their best hand from exactly three
of the five community cards and exactly two of the private cards.
-
In high-low split, each player must makes both a five-card high hand
and five-card ace-to-five low hand following the showdown rules.
It sounds simple in theory, but getting both the highest and lowest winning
hand is no easy task. Omaha high-low is not a game for the weak of heart.
Standard high-hand Omaha is easier for beginners to master.
