Five Card Stud
Five-card stud is believed to have originated
during the American Civil War. It has fallen in popularity with the amature
player, but a lot of the old timers still love it.
After every player antes up, each player around the table is dealt one
card face down followed by another card which is deal face up. Play begins
with each player being dealt one card face down, followed by one card face
up. The player ith the higest up card, starting to the left of the dealer,
may place the first bet. betting, checking and raising continues until
everyone has had their chance.
Next, another card is deal to each player face up and another round of
betting begins. In this round, the person with the best two cards showing
gets to place the first bet.
This process continues until four cards have been delt face up, or everyone
has folded but one player. After final bets are made, all remaining players
turn up their face down card and the highest hand wins the pot.
